Frequently Asked Questions
The "Monday's Child" nursery rhyme dates back to the 1830s and assigns personality traits based on the day of the week a child is born. While not scientifically accurate, it's a fun piece of folklore that many families enjoy discovering about their ancestors. The full rhyme includes: Monday (fair of face), Tuesday (full of grace), Wednesday (full of woe), Thursday (has far to go), Friday (loving and giving), Saturday (works hard for a living), and Sunday (fair and wise).
Our calculator uses standard calendar algorithms that work accurately for any date in the Gregorian calendar from 1900 to present. The day of the week calculation is mathematically precise. Historical facts are curated highlights and may not cover every significant event from each year.
We've limited the calculator to 1900 onwards to ensure accurate historical context and because this covers most people's living memory of ancestors (great-great-grandparents for many families). For dates before 1900, calendar variations and limited historical records make the results less meaningful.
